Medicine through Time Lesson Resources and Homework

Below are lesson resources and homework. You can catch up on missed work here and learn what you need to do for homework. Missed homework deadlines will result in being kept behind after lesson on a Monday or Tuesday, depending on when the lesson is.

Homework - learn mnemonic for the periods of the medicine course for Monday 19th September. If you don't know it you'll have to stay in at break and practice before being tested again.

Flip Learning Homework - due on Monday 3rd October

Your homework is about Galen - the greatest doctor in the Roman Empire. You are going to collect information on his background, his medical discoveries and his impact on medicine.

Click here for the capture sheet where you should record your findings. (I gave these out on A3 paper in the lesson).

For information, either come to the history department and use a book or check out these links:

The radio program, In Our Time. This is the richest source of information, particularly as the experts on it have the most up-to-date interpretation of Galen and his work and impact on medicine. (Some of the parts of the sheet can only be answered from the program). This link will work on a computer but also you can use your phone / ipad to listen to it.

Finally, head up to the department and use a Medicine Through Time textbook if you need to.

Homework for half term - due Monday 31st October

Complete this worksheet (click here) on the Fall of Rome. You have a copy in your books. You can do the sheet without any extra reading but I would like as many of you as possible to give some of these resources a go to further enhance your understanding. If you do not complete the sheet and print it out, you will lose the entire 30 minutes of your break time.
